
Susan Shortt started playing violin at an early age under the direction of Katherine Sasaki of The Katherine Sasaki Suzuki Violin School Academy. After her completion of the Academy, she studied with Anne Foreman. During her adolescent career she performed with various groups including the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and Northwest Symphony Orchestra. She received scholarships to attend master violin workshops at the Universities of Illinois, Eastern Illinois and Madison. She has taken improvizational classes with Jazz Violinist Randy Sabien. Susan is a member of the Fiddle Players Union, Suzuki Academy Association, Southwestern Bluegrass Music Association, and Southern Old Timer Fiddle Association

Susan is known in the South as "Susie the Wedding Fiddler" and is in high-demand and is a premier artist in the wedding industry. She can play any indoor/outdoor venue from backyard barbeques to black tie events! Susan can play any style of music and customizes each song selection to each of her clients needs.
Susan has been playing bluegrass and country music professionally the past 15 years. Susan is a current member of the American Federation of Musicians and Local 256-733. She has done contract work as a fiddle artist and has done various studio work for a number of country artists. Susan is a favorite at the local county fair circuit.

Not only is Susan a talented musician but she is a gifted teacher. She specializes in Suzuki Violin School Method and incorporates this technique with her fiddle instruction. She starts teaching individuals anywhere from the ages of 5 to 60. "You are never to young to start learning to play the fiddle!" Please call for rates and availability.
